nugget[G_S] -vs- deepblu[UNITED] ~(TD: 3,62 M)

    This was a little underhanded, but a hit is a hit. The attacker got battleships crazy early and he made it clear via PM he wanted to go to war. I could see this guy pummeling all my allies with his unstoppable fleet, so I'm hesitant to allow that. Tonight he got gutsy after trying/recalling previously, so I thought about it. G_S is notorious for not checking before they hit, so what can I do? I DM'd some defenses and recycled nearly all his fleet. Now I have battleships crazy early. Low, but it worked. Always look before you leap, attacker.

    I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't admit to using DM to "defense ninja" an attacker.....indeed, Mr "Kong" was a victim of such last week, but not a full blown wipe out like this. Props for the timing; even if he had safety probed, I'm confident you could still have slipped it in there. Complain about the DM all you want, it's part of the game now and you have to account for it.....some have endless streams of RL money to enhance their power in the game, and they're not afraid to use it. :monster:

    A DM ninja is exactly the same thing nugget did spending money to have 50 battleships this early. Only now he has nothing to show for his money. I do hope the rest of you guys are more careful with your ships. TDT and United will close that gap very quickly if not.

    You can't help a dm ninj, he told me he did safety probe but obviously blu storage is high and was very quick doing it. I don't think even nugget would not safety probe.

    nugget did safety probe, i made an error, so i apologize to him for that.


    however, you can if you look at the warning signs: planet lit up with activity, crystal store suddenly go from 4 to 5, calculate the risk based off standing stores, do a dry run if you suspect uses DM (im top 10, of course i DM), or maybe even noticed my LLs started piling up. i built them 5min out as sometimes the java lags and wanted them ready for insta-build. i wouldn't have blown DM to build 312 LLs if i suspected he would safety. i counted on him not to. he did however, but ignored the flags that i would have recalled for. who builds 2-3 more LLs when BSs are coming to dinner?


    i'm not here to say what i did was anything but extreme, but so is 51 BS in the hands of a player that PMs me for a war day 2 of a new server. but you can detect a DM ninja. it requires attention to detail and a hint of paranoia. i respect you for taking up for you ally, i was wrong about the safety probe, but the warning signs were there. he gambled and lost.

    I agree completely, DM in the beginning in helps. HOWEVER, late game (year or so in) it makes no difference. Either you can keep a fleet or you cant ;) :thumbup:
