This series is getting posted because I made six HoFs on one player in one day. The only way to prove it is to post all six, so here they are.
Hit 2
Back in April, I made two raids on trboturtle; a third raid was about 30 minutes away when he logged in and was recalled. He was a target because he trusts his defenses, does not fleet save, is regularly offline for 12 hours or more, splits up his fleet with some on every planet, and clusters his planets in two adjoining systems. trboturtle also likes to keep a couple of rips in every fleet. That meant that in order to reduce loses I needed to rely heavily on my dessys.
This was the perfect set-up for a mobile; my biggest problem was that I had completed Astro 19, and getting to Astro 21 would take over 1,600,000,000 in resources not to mention about a year of research time. Three factors led me to decide to research Astro 21 in order to get my 12th planet: I) Getting planets is always good; 2) If there is a merger, I would not be able to protect the resources like I can in Cygnus, and 3) I could use the planet as a mobile before I plant it on a permanent basis. With some help from "having and completing," I completed the research in a couple of months.
Over those months I probably only probed him one or two times. Mostly I watched his online habits. I really wanted to wait for a 25% discount on "having and completing," but my best guess was that I would have to wait for 2-4 more weeks. When the 15% DM cash back was announced and coincided with a day I believed he would be offline for most of it, I finished the research and pounced.
This hit was all about the timing. I timed the sending of the colony to arrive after his occasional morning login time, sent probes, recyclers and fleet separately, and spied his planets 15 minutes before my fleet arrived at my mobile. After that, it was all about getting my recyclers started and watching for activity. I could have easily have hit two more planets, but I had spent a lot of time online and wanted to have the mobile destroyed before I called it a night. As I was online longer than usual.
