    Basic and Season Achievements

The update adds 270 basic achievements to all servers. Once you fulfill the requirements for an achievement, it will unlock automatically. Each achievement unlocked earns you 100 achievement points, plus any associated rewards.

Certain achievements will not be unlocked retrospectively, but will only start to count with the release of the update (e.g. the number of expeditions flown). Unlocked achievements and rewards are available to you on all servers you’re playing on. That means if you unlock an achievement on one server, you don’t need to unlock it again on any other servers, and can immediately use the rewards on any of the servers you’re playing on. However, progress towards achievements is not cumulative across servers, so for example if you need to fly 100 expeditions, you cannot achieve this by flying 50 expeditions on two separate servers, instead only the highest number on an individual server counts.

The same logic applies to the season achievements which are only available on the special season servers which launch every 12 weeks. Once a season achievement has been unlocked, its rewards are available to you on all servers even after the end of the season, and you can view your completed season achievements on all servers. Play on the season servers to earn more points for the global highscore table! Each season revolves around a particular theme, for example trade or warfare, and the associated playing styles. With the variety of seasonal themes, we’re experimenting with bringing some fresh impetus to our regular server launches, and look forward to hearing how you enjoy the regular rotating challenges throughout the year.

    Seasons

Lots of players look forward to the regular challenge of starting out on a new server. The new seasons should give future server launches an exciting twist, as each season has a particular theme at its core, with special season achievements only available on these servers!

There will be new season servers launched every 12 weeks (i.e. every other server launch) which will be available until the next season. During this limited time, you can attempt to complete the season achievements and unlock the associated rewards on these servers. Each season has 75 special season achievements which will earn you achievement points on completion. Some will also reward you with special avatars, titles and planet skins which can only be earned during that particular season. Once you’ve unlocked a reward on a season server, it will be available on all servers where you play. After the season ends, you’ll be able to see the achievements you’ve completed on all servers in the general achievements list, and they will be visible to other players who visit your player profile (unless you’ve set it to private).

Each season has a particular theme, for example trade or warfare. That way you’re guaranteed to find achievements which are more suited to PvP and the General class, or others focused on building a solid economy and maximizing your resource income. We have created 4 seasons which will run over the coming year, giving you the opportunity to unlock more avatars, titles and planet skins which you can use to personalize your profile and empire.

    Player Profile

Until now, players were mainly represented by their names. We now want to give you the chance to show off the true planet-conquering emperor you truly are. Clicking on your name (or the avatar symbol next to your name) brings up the new player profile page. Here you have the possibility to customize your avatar and information displayed, as well as view your achievements.

Show off your impressive highscores and let your profile visitors see who you really are. Your player profile is public and can be viewed by all other players, unless you hide it by setting it to private. Players will be able to visit other players’ profiles and see their achievement progress as well as general profile information (such as their avatar, title and other interesting details). You do however have the option to hide only parts of your profile if you do not wish to share certain information. How you wish to be represented is entirely in your hands.

As players can create different profiles on the different servers they’re playing on, we’ve added the option of registering one of your profiles for the global highscore list. That means when players see your name in the global highscore table and visit your profile, that’s the profile they will see.

    Global Highscores

The global highscore table is a big change which allows players from all servers to compete at the same time. Each server will get two new highscore lists with this update. One is the server-specific achievement highscore table, where you can see how your own achievement progress compares with other players on your server. The second is the global achievement highscore table where you can see how your achievement progress compares with all other OGame players.

Of course we realize that particular server settings will mean that players on certain servers will unlock achievements slower or faster. But in the longer term, players who also participate in the various seasons and earn achievement points there will definitely have the advantage. Read the “Player Profile” section of these patch notes for more details.

In addition the existing highscore lists have been visually updated to display the new avatars alongside player names. If you’d prefer these lists to appear as before, you still have the option to change this from the settings and display the highscore lists without avatars.

We look forward to your feedback on the changes and hope that you have fun with them. For us, this update is about more than just the new content – it’s our way of paying homage to the community who are always seeking to push the boundaries of what we thought was possible, for whom no challenge, obstacle or danger is too great, and who are always reaching for something new beyond the stars. Thanks for being a part of this community and for helping us to make this journey through the universe together unforgettable!
