Hello commanders!
During the past months we were working on the next big content update and now that it is almost ready it is time for you to get to know what is it about!
A new Alliance Update will be introduced in the game soon. Once the update is throughly tested and ready to come to the live servers we will announce the specific date.
For now, we will leave here the notes of the update. Keep in mind this is not the final changelog as things can be changed through the testing phase.
As this update was quite big to be released all at once, it has been divided in several smaller updates.
Here is what is coming up soon:
Alliance Class
- The alliance class is a class specialisation for all members.
- The alliance class and the personal class are different so players can set, for example, โWarriorโ for their alliance class and โDiscovererโ for their personal class.
- The new class specialisation can be found in a new tab under Alliances.
- The new tab is only available with the corresponding permission. By default, this permission is only granted to the leader.
- The permission to change the alliance class is regarded as a shared right and can be assigned to any rank.
- Alliance classes work similarly to personal classes: the tab for changing the alliance class shows all three classes and their specifications.
- The alliance class can be changed or deactivated directly on the alliance classes page or via a special shop item.
- There is no limitation on the number of times the alliance class can be changed, but only players with the required permission can do so. The cooldown for changing alliance class is 5 minutes.
- As with the other classes, previous alliance classes are lost following the change.
- Players do not need to set an alliance class to play OGame.
- All members of the alliance class benefit from the bonuses of that class.
- Players can buy items to change the alliance class in the shop. These items cannot be used by anyone else other than the player who bought them. Players do not have to be in an alliance or have certain permissions to buy these items. However, the items can only be used if the players have the relevant permissions.
- The alliance class is visible on the external and internal alliance pages, in the highscores, search function, Galaxy view and espionage reports.
- All bonuses of the alliance classes have standard values. However, these may vary from server to server. The bonuses can also be deactivated on the servers. Players should check the alliance class description to find out which bonuses apply.
- The bonuses are only active as long as the alliance class is active.
The Three Alliance Classes
Trader
- Similar to the Collector personal class, transporters receive a 10% boost on their standard speed.
- Similar to the Collector personal class, players receive an additional 5% resource production on the current base production of their planet.
- Similar to the Collector personal class, players receive an additional 5% energy production on the current base production of their planet.
- The storage capacity of all planets and moons is increased by 10%.
Researcher
- Similar to the Discoverer personal class, players benefit from 5% bigger planets on colonisation. The combination of the bonuses of both classes is particularly advantageous.
- Researchers receive a 10% bonus on the speed to their expedition destination. A message is displayed at Fleet II when this bonus is active. This means that the flight time is shorter than is shown in the briefing. This bonus only affects the flight time and not the expedition time.
- Access to the system phalanx: a new button has been added to the Galaxy view. It works similarly to a normal phalanx (only on a moon that has a phalanx). The range depends on the level of the phalanx. Each scan costs 40,000 deuterium. The scan runs automatically and displays all results in the selected system of the galaxy at once.
Warrior
- Warriors receive a 10% flight speed boost on flights to alliance members. A message is displayed at Fleet II when this bonus is active. This means that the flight time is shorter than is shown in the briefing. This bonus only affects flights to members of the same alliance.
- Similar to the General personal class, players receive an additional +1 combat research level.
- Similar to the General personal class, players receive an additional +1 espionage technology level.
- Access to the system espionage: a new button has been added to the Galaxy view. It works like normal espionage (uses spy probes, requires deuterium and fleet slots for each mission etc.). Spy probes are sent to the selected system in the galaxy. There is a new section in the options menu for this:
- The number of spy probes to be sent to each target can be selected.
- Targets for the probes can be set (e.g. only moons, only planets or both).
- Players can choose whether they want to send probes only to active or inactive systems (or both).
- A time frame can be specified. If espionage has already been carried out on a target during this time period, the system does not send any probes there.
Bug Fixes
- Players can now also register using an email address containing the โ+โ character.
- The same chat message can no longer be reported multiple times.
- The target name on Fleet II is now updated (this causes a delay if you try to continue with Fleet III before it has been updated).
